RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a process which formally recognises what you already know or can do and could provide you with a full or part qualification which avoids duplication of training.

This knowledge and skills may have been the result of:

  • Formal training programs (e.g. school, TAFE or other training bodies)
  • Life experience (e.g. community involvement, hobbies)
  • Work experience (e.g. training, on-the-job experience)

Current competence or prior learning is measured against the learning outcomes/competencies for a particular module/qualification. If this requirement has already been met, then that particular module or unit of competence may not be required to be undertaken.

Evidence for RPL may include:

  • Interview/professional conversation
  • Observation and questioning including workplace visits
  • Portfolio of work, which may include completed assessment items from previous study
  • Reference/ Letters of support – Work/Social
  • Evidence of committee work
  • Demonstration of skill
  • Record of academic results
  • Referee/industry representatives

  • Published works e.g. operational manuals
  • Letters/memos written at work
  • Speeches written
  • Rosters/timesheets
  • Duty statements/job specifications
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Community Industry Awards
  • Audio cassettes
  • Photos
  • Video

If you feel you have already achieved the knowledge and skill required for a unit of competency or a qualification please contact our RPL Coordinator at admin@humanagers.com.au to arrange an interview.
